Lighting, Sound and Video Design for the dance piece Wonderland.

In “WONDERLAND”, the Frankfurt choreographer Célestine Hennermann meets with four dancers from contemporary and urban dance the thoughts, wishes, fantasies, utopias of schoolchildren at the transition to puberty. Viral dances and movements from the world of computer games (e.g. Fortnite, Super Mario) and social media are translated into the real search by children and adolescents for their own identity and belonging.
The story of “Alice in Wonderland” runs like a delicate thread through the piece. Alice’s search for her own constantly changing self and the direction she should take is also of central importance for many adolescents. The amazement of who you really are and who you want to be is reflected in the acceptance and rejection of young people by peers, family, school and media models.
The research on WONDERLAND began together with students from the Wöhlerschule Frankfurt. The target group worked directly on the aesthetic approach and the focus of the content in various communication formats. The piece development and choreography took place in the artistic team, in order to then finalize the piece together with the students. The result is a professional dance performance for and by young people, in which in addition to the four dancers, students from the respective city stand on the stage, develop their own choreographies, work with improvisation and learn choreographic material.
